A man died after a freight train collided with a mini truck on the afternoon of the 26th at a railroad crossing on the JR Tokaido Line in Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture.
According to Aichi Prefectural Police, the accident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. near a railway crossing in the Rokkakudo Nishimachi area of Inazawa. A freight train struck a small truck that was on the tracks at the time of the collision.
The vehicle was occupied by one unidentified man. He was transported to a hospital following the accident but was later pronounced dead.
Police are continuing efforts to confirm the victim’s identity while also investigating how the truck entered the crossing and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
According to JR Central, the incident forced a temporary suspension of train services on the Tokaido Line between Nagoya Station and Gifu Station. Operations resumed shortly after 4 p.m.
